School officials decided it would be best to re-schedule the remainder of Raines High School’s football games from evening to daytime hourse in an effor to curb violence at the games.
The first game affected will be the Raines vs. Bishop Kenny game, which will take place at at 1 p.m. on Friday, according to Jill Johnson with the Duval County Public Schools. On October 12th, two student were shot while leaving the nightime football game between Raines and Lee High Schools in Jacksonville.
The remaining home games that were scheduled for 7 p.m. are going to be played at an earlier time in the day to prevent further violence, according to Paul Soares, a chief officer for Duval County Public Schools. However, he said this schedulue is only being looked at for this years football season, and won’t necessarily be the same next year.
