Rare! 1964/1965 JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA Magazine BOB HAYES
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Pro Bowl running back Maurice Jones-Drew says he never meant to take a shot at Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler or question his toughness.
The Jacksonville standout tells The Associated Press his Tweet comparing Cutler to former Florida coach Urban Meyer was merely a joke – one that clearly backfired.
Hmmm.. I’m not really a fan of naming stadiums after corporations, but I suppose it’s a necessity these days, although it has been three years since the stadium had a commercial name, when it was Alltell Stadium. I’m still somewhat in the habit of calling it Alltell actually.

I posted about Bob Hayes being voted into the hall of fame back in February, and now it is official. “Bullet” Bob Hayes has finally been inducted into the NFL hall of fame. He is the only person to ever win an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl ring, and is perhaps the greatest athlete to ever come from Jacksonville. Jacksonville native “Bullet” Bob Hayes (December 20, 1942 – September 18, 2002) has finally been given his place in the National Football League Hall of Fame as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, and will be officially inducted in early August.

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Bob Hayes was a star athlete for Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee and an Olympic Gold Medal sprinter before his NFL career. Hayes was once known as The World’s Fastest Human thanks to his world records in the 60-yard, 100-yard, 220-yard, and Olympic 100-meter dashes. Bob Hayes is the only man to win both an Olympic gold and a Super Bowl ring.
The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-29 tonight in the AFC Wildcard game to keep hopes alive for a Superbowl win from the Jaguars this year. This was a very exciting game, more exciting than I’d hoped, actually. I wanted the Jags to break out into a big lead and hold it, but no, they had to let the Steelers keep a close score.

Also, Fred Taylor broke the 10,000 yard rushing barrier for his career. He is only the 21st player in NFL history to rush for 10,000 yards.
After the Titans beat the Jaguars in the season opener, we can kinda consider this to be payback. We gave up only 10 yards rushing to the Titans, and sacked their star quarterback Vince Young a total of 4 times in the game. Vince Young also threw two interceptions.
The Jaguars needed to win this game, and hopefully they’ll go on to make it in the playoffs, and then win a Superbowl. Jacksonville has hosted a Superbowl before, but I’d like for the Jaguars to actually play in the Superbowl and win.
